Pandit Shree Bhawani Shankar Shastri

About Panditji

Born into a highly religious, strictly vegetarian Brahmin family in Nepal, at an early age, Shastriji was exposed to Sanatan Dharma, Hindu religious practices, holy sacraments and ritual practices.  

 

He graduated in 1993 from Rajkiya Sanskrit High School in Nepal with emphasis on Sanskrit language, specifically grammar and literature. Then he received his University level education from the renowned Bhartiya Sanskrit MahaVidyalaya under the auspicious guidance of Mr. Rajaram Mishra, formerly with the prestigious RangaLakshmi Sanskrit MahaVidyalaya. He studied Astrology and Vedic literature and learned key scriptures- Upanishadas, Bhaagvat Purana, Shreemad Bhagwad Geeta and Valmiki Ramayana in depth.

 

Having completed his training from his Guruji, he began his priestly services in Vrindavan that included Hindu Pujas, Worships, and renditions of discourses on Geeta, Bhagwat, and Ramayana. As a young adult, he resided at Shanta Tirtha Aashram and Harivansha Aashram near Moti Zeel, Vrindavan, UP, India. Since then, he has traveled extensively. While offering his services in temples, he also performed ceremonies at private residences of host families in more than 10 states of India and Nepal.

 

Shastriji has been within the United States for over 6 years.  He first started within the US serving as a temple priest at RadhaKrishna Organization.  Since 2015, he has been associated with Hindu Worship Society as a temple priest in charge of performing daily pujas and worships, decorating and adorning deities and preaching scriptures every Sunday, focusing on the teachings of Geeta and its modern applications, as well as the Bhaagvat Purana and Valmiki Ramayana.

 

A Sanskrit scholar, Panditji has accumulated a wealth of experience and expertise in over 20 years. Not only he can perform sacraments and rituals in traditional ways, but also he offers scientific explanation and explains the significance of all rituals to the desired extent expressed by the Yajmaans (hosts). Proficient in Sanskrit, Hindi, Nepali, Gujarati, and English as well as well versed in major world religions, his delivery also includes comparative studies between Hinduism and other major world major religions.
